Best Management Practices

Forestry Best Management Practices (BMPs) have been established by the various states to protect aquatic resources. For more information from specific states, click on the state of interest: In some instances, BMPs are mandatory, but most are voluntary. They usually include guidelines for management of stream crossings, Streamside Management Zones (riparian areas), sediments, and other areas of concern for aquatic resources. BMPs for other land-use activities have also been developed.
